Episode 47 - Reconstructionism 101

• December 8th, 2010

Josh Rood and Dan Oropallo gave a extended 101 class on Introduction to Reconstructionism class at the East Coast Thing 2010. This talk will keep you thinking. They had a lot of fun with this and everyone really got something to take away from this. Not to mention that they take aim and roast up some sacred cows from the early days of Asatru.

Stay tuned and frosty to the feed as you know what time of year it is...

And I'll keep a Yule Log (or tree) burning for you.

These are the fifteen pages of Notes that Josh Rood and Dan Oropallo used for their 101 Introduction to Reconstructionism class they gave at the East Coast Thing 2010.

It's chunky with citations, quotes and background goodies. You wall want to have this in front of you to better keep track of their line of thinking from the class.

Episode 46 - Groves and Sacred Spaces

• October 5th, 2010

This is the second of the several recorded classes from the East Coast Thing 2010.

Gary Golden had an excellent lecture regarding Groves and Sacred Spaces. He talked about his practical experience in creating a dedicated ritual space with his Grove and the lore that he looked at in the creation thereof. This is a wonderfully meaty class and we strongly recommend following his journey through the lore via the previously uploaded document files. You will not regret that effort.

More tasty goodness is on the way from ECT as I struggle through the editing.

Episode 43 - Asatru in Prison

• March 14th, 2010

This episode may likely be our most controversial one. Patrick McCollum is a pagan Chaplin working with the Cherry Hill Seminary (http://www.cherryhillseminary.org/). He works with about 2,000 Pagan Prisoners in California and has run into a gauntlet of administrative outright discrimination. Many of those prisoners are Asatruar, who are looking for some means to worship. We pop a few prison myths about racism and whether we should act at all.

I can not think of a podcast that we have done that was not as important as this one.

We would like to thank the Pagan Spirit Gathering for helping us make this interview happen. PSG is going on June 20-27, near Salem, Missouri. Have a look at http://www.circlesanctuary.org/psg/

For more info on this have a look at the Wildhunt Blog at http://wildhunt.org/blog/2010/02/patrick-mccollums-case-hits-the-mainstream.html
