Episode 16 - Yule 2007!
Welcome to our celebration of Yule!
Some Lore links about Yule: http://home.earthlink.net/~wodensharrow/yule.html http://www.simnet.is/gardarj/yule2.htm
This year at Yule we focus on the modern celebration of Yule and practices. We do a quick interview with Rick Oberg about his private practice with his family at Yule. I read a fun little poem called the Yule Cat. Sandi and I “discuss” whether Santa’s roots come from Odin or Thor.
Very Merry Yule Everyone!

Blessed Yule to you and yours. This was my first experience with ravencast. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. I listened to it with my children. Thank You for your thoughts on the holiday.

“He who has tried it knows how cruel is sorrow as a companion to the one who has few beloved friends: the path of exile (wræclast) holds him, gold, not at all twisted gold, a frozen spirit, not the bounty of the earth. ” The Wanderer
Good afternoon,
As the quote above insinuates, as people come to Asatru and what Asatru came from, people also leave for a variety of reasons. I would suggest that the topic of leaving Asatru and how that can be done(for example, if you have sworn an Oath to the Gods and Goddesses, some believe that you can be released from that Oath) it might be a good thing to talk about(if not as a full episode at least as a quick side note).

Awesome show, guys. It has helped to re-awaken in me my love for the Old Gods, and my Norse/Germanic heritage! I listened to all within a week. How about some readings of the Myths, discuss craft making( I know, not your forte), general customs, mead-making, music? just a start. Fare well!

I wanted to say that you both do a great job with Ravencast. I wanted to mention and idea for a show.
Sacred tools/altar items/weapons
Hope this helps!

Great Cast!! I have an idea for a show…maybe Asatru 101? How does Asatru relate to the science of today? For example, do you actually believe that Sunna is the sun and that the ecliptic path is no more than Sunna running from the wolf. Science has proven it to be gravity. How do we explain this?
I have tried to research this online but have not much on the subject. If not a cast, perhaps you could point in the right direction.
Thanks for your time and have a merry Yule!

Great podcast!
As several others have mentioned, I, too, would like to hear some more about the gods themselves, not just the lore (which is always great), but some stories and experiences about their manifestation in the “everyday” world of the here and now.
Also, are there any Celto-Norse or Norse-Celtic Asatru (or some such co-mingling of lore and belief) organizations? Afterall, it’s through that “co-mingling” that so many of us came to be!
And, could you do a cast on elves … and the alfar?
