Asatru 101 - Blot and Ritual

This is our second 101 ‘cast. Dave and I discuss the basic concepts behind blots and their structure. The whys and wherefores of the ritual. The link to the outline and Blot details we are most familiar with can be found here.

We hope this provides inspiration and structure for folks to do their own Asatru rituals.

  1. As a fairly new person to Asatru, I really found this helpful and informative. Currently I’m the lone wolf so to speak, as there aren’t any kindreds near me (besides Chicago and Bloomington IL, and I know of one in Terre Haute IN) but none within my area. Hopefully that will one day change, but for now I must say I have been finding your podcasts extremely helpful. Also the videos on Youtube that Vinterulf puts up have been immeasurably helpful to me. Anyone can read a book, but it *does* help to hear it from someone with knowledge and experience. (and Gods know I have been “reading my eyes off”.. hahaha) Thanks so much for making these available to our community. :)

Also, I hope you don’t mind but I put a link up to you guys on my web-page in the links section. :)

  2. no I don’t mind at all that you’ve put up a link to our cast! I’m honored you like our cast enough to do so!

  3. I am with you HeathenMomma, there arent any Asatru groups I know of around me and the ones you listed are also the only ones close to me. If it werent for RavenCast I wouldnt have much. I was planning to hold a blot for Mabon this in which at least 13 families will be attending. This pod cast has been extremely helpful. Thank you sooo much RavenCast!

  4. Who is/are the artists playing in your intro? I would like to have that music on cd and thank you for your informative podcasts.

  5. There is no band as such for the music. It is the creation of our very talented kinsman, Jeff.

  6. This was a really helpful episode for me. Being new, it was nice to have the ritual side of Asatru explained. Keep up the good work guys!
